Curtis Salgado’s The Beautiful Lowdown voted Best Soul Album at the Blues Music Awards in Memphis ( May,2017). In addition to ” Walk A Mile In My Blues “,which was awarded Song Of The Year, David Duncan was a writer on 5 other songs with Salgado on the recording.
I am happy to report we’ve been in the studio in Nashville & Lafayette for the last 2 weeks. We are making great progress on the upcoming Brian Langlinais album that I am producing. Its a Louisiana Soul album and we have a truly stellar cast of players behind Brian’s great vocals. I wrote some of the songs on the record specifically for Brian’s voice and I am really happy with what we have so far. The great Tony Daigle at the mixing board is our secret weapon of course. Look for the new album from Brian after the first of the year.
Back in Santa Fe after a great roadtrip with Magic Betty. We went to Flagstaff,AZ to play a gig with David Bromberg and then headed to Clarksdale,MS where Stan Street & I re-united to do a Duncan Street at The Hambone Gallery. Fine delta blues and lots of international blues lovers in the audience.
Next was Greenwood,MS and a brief acoustic set before the Elizabeth Billups book signing for her beautiful book ” Ireland: One Island, No Borders”. Had a chance to see the Tallahatchie Bridge made famous in the song “Ode To Billy Joe” and also Robert Johnson’s ( alleged) gravesite.
Then a rockin’ Friday Nite at Ground Zero Blues Club. Backed by my great Mississippi band ( John Allouise on bass, Josh McDowell ( drums) & Bill Perry Jr.( piano). we rocked the house all night and had a mighty fine time doing it.
A quick run to Nashville , where we took in a Jason Isbell show at The Ryman Auditorium, and then back in the ( so called) Tour Bus for the 1200 mile drive home.
D.L. Duncan will play an acoustic blues set of blues as the opening act for the Legendary David Bromberg on Sat. Oct 17th in Flagstaff AZ
The new self-titled “D.L. Duncan” CD was mixed by multi-Grammy winner, Tony Daigle, in Lafayette, Louisiana. Tony has been nominated for 21 Grammy Awards and has won six of them. He won his most recent Grammy award in February 2015 for his recording skills on the Jo-El Sonnier record, “The Legacy.”
